Humanitarian Advisory Group

Photographing a variety of events in Melbourne, puts me in front of a huge range of people, ranging from teachers and politicians to scientists, artists, NGO staff, atheletes, social enterprisers, magicians(!), CEOs and often, the average Jo/e in the street.
All have their own stories and all have something to offer, which is why I love my work so much.

I always take something useful away from speakers at an event, whether it’s a practical tip or a new way of thinking about a situation. (I’ve got loads of great factoids if anyone needs a last minute ring-in for their pub quiz!)
This means no two photography jobs are the same and some of the greatest speakers have been at events organised by NGOs or social enterprise groups.  Last week was no exception, when I was pleased to be able to photograph an industry engagement event on behalf of the Humanitarian Advisory Group at The University of Melbourne.
Speakers included Oxfam’s Richard Simpson & David Sims, gender specialist Dr Sarah Kernot, humanitarian expert Richard Young, Gemma Gray from Emergency Management Victoria, Nicolette Solomon from the Australia Awards Women’s Leadership Initiative and Josh Owies from the Australian Red Cross.
